Marijuana News – New Jersey Marijuana License Applications
The Governor of New Jersey announced that New Jersey has received 146 marijuana license applications for medical marijuana dispensaries. There were 50 applicants for the northern region, 45 in the central region and 51 in the southern region.
Governor Murphy also tweeted, “Medical marijuana is used to treat chronic and debilitating pain, epilepsy, glaucoma, PTSD, ALS, side effects of cancer treatment and HIV/AIDS, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and other painful illnesses. NJ will not deny people compassionate care.”
Unfortunately, the regulatory burden on these applicants is such that you have to be able to make a huge investment to qualify for a license, so it is not likely there will be many small businesses awarded these licenses. It looks like there will be many hundreds of jobs however. I hope NY gets it right but at the same time, I am a realist and I know that deep pockets always win in NY because our politicians have built a campaign contribution mill that runs like a top.
If you aspire to work at one of these dispensaries, grow sites or manufacturing facilities, start getting the required education now. Be sure you resume stands out from the crowd.
